Dear Readers:
Welcome to the official Faye Kellerman website. To all of you new and returning, so glad you dropped by. Do it from time to time because I do change the message.
First things first. Thank you so much for making The Mercedes Coffin an instant New York Times bestseller, debuting on the August 31st at # 8. On that same week, The Burnt House is # 7 on the mass market paperback. When I say, I couldn’t have done it without you, I really mean it. Your support is the number one reason I write.
I hope your summer has not only been profitable but lots of fun: Jonathan and I spent a number of weeks at difference places, culminating with four days at Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies. I have never seen such splendor at every twist and turn of the road, the purity and color of the glacial lakes. It is paradise - even if you have to wear bells while hiking in the woods to warn the grizzlies that you’re coming. We did see three black bears minding their own beeswax, but nothing brown and ferocious that looked hungry, thank goodness.
Besides Lake Louise, Jonathan and I were in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I was working, but Jonathan took much need time off. Even though I was jealous of his freedom, I must admit he sincerely deserves it after writing two novels and 120 essays for his upcoming art book – With Strings Attached - due out in November. It is a pictorial of Jonathan’s other love – his guitars. Over three hundred photographs of his forty-year collection with forwards by Andy Summers of The Police fame and Jesse Kellerman of novelist fame. It features almost everything in guitars - from prewar Martin flattops to Gibson electrics to and vintage classical guitars, some that are hundreds of years old. But what truly separates this art book from the rest is Jonathan’s prose; witty as well as historic. I’ve learned more about Jonathan from this book than I have from his novels. It’s a must for the holidays and for any person who shares Jonathan’s obsession with these gorgeous creations. For the Alex Delaware fan – and who isn’t – Jonathan’s newest in the series is entitled Bones and will be out in October.
Now it’s back to the computer, working on my next effort tentatively entitled Blindman’s Bluff. It is another Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus novel and in it she discusses her challah recipe. I used to make challah all the time, but then I found out in order to take true challah – a piece of the dough from the bread mixture that is ritually burned – you have to have like 10 pounds of dough. I may go back to making it again just because it smells so good when it’s baking. I don’t know if I’ll actually include the recipe but I’ll post it in the website when the book comes out. Please keep those emails. I enjoy the feedback. And for those of you who want the correct order of the books, that’s also listed on the website.
All the best and thanks again for visiting.
