The Quality of Mercy

Published: 1989

THE QUALITY OF MERCY is my first non-series book as well as my first historical novel. It is set in Elizabethan England and is a sprawling tale of murder, romance, and adventure. William Shakespeare sets out to discovered how Harry Whitman, his friend and mentor died. In his travels, he meets a young, beautiful Converso woman named Rebecca Lopez, on a quest of her own. When their paths cross again, they join forces, sensing that their lives together are fated and intertwined.

"More than just a mystery, the novel is a spectacular epic--romantic, bawdy, witty and abounding with adventure. It's a stellar performance." - Publishers Weekly
